How Does Sports Massage Help And Is It Only For People Who Do Sport?
Sports massage is for everyone. It produces overwhelming benefits physically, physiologically, and psychologically. The benefits of a sports massage are numerous, including improved flexibility, reduced risk of injury, injury recovery, reduced muscle tension, increased relaxation and a boosted circulatory system.
Does It Hurt?
Sports massage doesn’t need to hurt to be effective. When the muscles are tight and sore, massage can become tender but this can be tailored to you by your clinician. Some people prefer a very deep massage, so if you want it firmer just say. Others prefer a lighter massage so again, if its too firm, just say.
I Have An Event Coming Up, Should I Have A Massage Before Or After?
When preparing for an event, whether it’s a 10k, the marathon, a cycling event, or any other event, we recommend regular sports massages leading up to it to reduce injury risk and aid recovery after training.
We do not recommend having a massage on the morning of the event.
We do recommend having a massage following the event, either the same day or following day to reduce delayed onset of muscle soreness (DOMS) and aide recovery
Do I Need An Assessment First?
Unless you are coming in with an injury, then no you will not need an assessment. Just book a massage, come in and enjoy!
What Do I Need To Bring?
It is advisable to bring a pair of loose shorts if you are attending for a leg massage. For upper body massages the removal of clothing may be required. We have clean towels available to keep you as covered as possible. If you would prefer not to dress down, please wear loose fitting clothing. Please feel free to bring a chaperone if you wish.
