What Is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is about helping you to become pain free and achieve your maximum potential through movement and function, whether that be to run a marathon, train hard at the gym, or simply to be able to sit pain free at work.

Do I Need A Consultation?

Unless you are booking a follow up session then yes, you will need an initial consultation. A comprehensive assessment is vital to enable your physio to identify the source of your symptoms, uncover any underlying causes, and make an accurate diagnosis. Without the correct diagnosis, effective treatment is impossible.

What Does A Consultation Involve?

Your consultation starts with a pre-assessment phone call with your physio, which will give us some understanding of the issues prior to your appointment. You can book a 30 or 45 minute consultation, in which a full medical history will be taken and a physical assessment will take place to diagnose your injuries. We offer a free ultrasound scan if needed with all 45 minute consultations.

It’s important for you to have a full understanding of your problem so an agreed plan of action can be implemented. You’ll be talked through the various treatment options and advised on the most affective modality. In addition to treating your injury, we want to particularly focus on helping you achieve your specific individual goals and will discuss ways to keep you training if this is something of interest to you.

Will There Be Any Treatment On My First Visit?

We always aim to treat during your initial consultation, however occasionally it is not appropriate, for instance if we feel you need an MRI or specialist opinion. If we do feel you need further investigation, we will write you a letter and discuss with you your next steps.

What Happens In The Follow Up Sessions?

This really depends on your injury and the treatment plan that would have been discussed during your initial consultation. Generally, a quick discussion of any progress or problems that have risen since your last session will take place. Following this your treatment will start. Finally, your home exercise program will be reviewed and progressed accordingly. We try to use as much time as possible for physical treatment during the follow up sessions.

What If I Need A Scan?

Charlie is our clinics Sonographer. If you book a 45 minute consultation with him an ultrasound scan is included free of charge. If you have booked a 30 minute consultation with one of our other clinicians and they feel you would benefit from a scan, they will book you in with Charlie, discuss your case with him, and he will scan you at the price of a standard follow up session

Do I Need To Stop Training?

No, It’s a very common misconception that being injured means you must stop training and rest. Having worked/still work within professional sports we’re very experienced in treating sports injuries and providing ways to enable you to continue training in some way to maintain your fitness and strength.

What Do I Need To Bring?

It is advisable to bring a pair of shorts if the problem is related to your leg or lower back. For ladies we recommend you wear a vest top if your complaint relates to your upper body/neck.

If you have any medical letters relating to your current injury, or past similar injuries, please bring these. Please feel free to bring a chaperone if you wish.

Are You Registered With My Health Insurance?

We are registered with all major health insurance companies including Bupa, Aviva, Axa, Cigna, Simply Health, Vitality, Healix and Aetna. All insurance policies do vary slightly so if in doubt please contact your insurance.

I Don't Have Health Insurance, Can I Pay On The Day?

Yes you can. We accept card or cash, and you don’t pay until the end of your session. No payment will be made when booking your appointment today.

Ready To Book?

All appointments can be booked online, but if you’re unsure on what type of appointment you need please book a free phone/video call consultation with one of our clinicians who can discuss your needs & advise you
